How to receive and understand a plant the moment it arrives at your door

In the world of plants, perfection exists. But you can only see it if you know how to find it within that magnificent imperfection that sets one species apart from another, one cultivar from the next, and one single plant from its neighbour in the pot.

Perfection lives precisely in that imperfection.

"Nature doesn't make mistakes. We just haven't learned to look closely enough."

Strength in small things

You find it in the blade of grass bent by forces far greater than itself — and yet, at the first ray of sunlight, it stands tall again. And again. Resilient.

You find it in the petal of your favourite rose, spotted this morning by a dewdrop that caught the June sun like a lens and left its mark.

If I'm being too poetic, do tell me… but this is what the earth is.

The journey to your home

All of this applies exactly to the plants we deliver. They arrive at your door stressed from the journey. They've been shaken about by the couriers — who are doing their job, but often have no idea what's really inside that package. They've been sitting in the dark, with barely any air.

You might open the box and find them dishevelled. Tired. Imperfect. But these are garden creatures. Resilient by nature, waiting only to find the right place in your home or in the soil of your garden.

What will they ask of you?

No miracles. Just:

• A little of your attention
• A little of your patience
• A great deal of your understanding

The understanding that belongs to those who, from today, know what the perfect imperfection of a plant truly means. And, let's be honest, of us human beings too.
