Liatris spicata , also known as fountain plant or prairie candle, is a striking perennial with upright flower spikes full of purplish-pink flowers that bloom from top to bottom. This unique flowering habit makes the plant a real eye-catcher in borders, prairie plantings, and natural gardens. Liatris spicata prefers a sunny location and well-drained soil, is low-maintenance, and very winter-hardy. It also attracts many bees and butterflies and provides vertical structure and long-lasting summer color in the garden.
