Lythrum salicaria , also known as purple loosestrife, is a vigorous, upright perennial with long spikes of bright pink to purple flowers in summer. This native plant is ideal for moist borders, riverbanks, and natural gardens, where it provides long-lasting color and a natural look. Lythrum salicaria prefers a sunny location and moist to wet soil, is low-maintenance, and very winter-hardy. It is also very attractive to bees, butterflies, and other pollinators.
