What is a garden?
Lately, I’ve noticed a lot of interest and orders for garden plants.
It’s truly rewarding to see so many customers interested in the products I’ve selected and shared.
The selection was made with northern gardens in mind — Dutch and English ones — which are a bit different from Mediterranean and especially Italian gardens.
Perhaps this difference is exactly what intrigues the visitors of piantedappartamento.shop.
I hope these plant assortments will encourage you to rethink: what is a garden?
Is it an enchanted place with perfect order, not a single weed in sight, a storybook landscape?
Well, allow me to disagree. I prefer a garden that lets me experience a small adventure every time I step into it.
Seeing how a plant responded to a risky pruning I did last year.
Watching how a plant that didn’t really fit the overall theme tries to adapt and get along with its local companions.
Taking a cutting and seeing if I can root it, hoping it will thrive next year.
Using naturally grown moss from a damp corner to keep the soil moist and decorate the bonsai pots made with rescued plants from here and there.
Nothing too precious — but always a discovery.
Take a risk: buy a plant you’ve never even heard of, and try to make it feel at home in your space.
Let’s not stick to the usual geraniums or petunias — there are so many other varieties to explore, and they may surprise us with their resilience and beauty.
As always, if you’d like to share ideas or think aloud with me about what to do…
You know I’m always here for you.
